New Years Resolutions

Here are my New Year Resolutions.

1. I am going back on my diet as of the 1st of January. No more chocolate, carbs, nothing! We started our diet last July, and I lost 12 pounds in a month! I know I can do it, I just got to set my mind straight.

2. Read more. I have been lazy about reading this year. I can count on one hand how many books I've read this past year. I generally read 30-40 books a year. I'm slackin'.

3. Save money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. Spend a little less time on the computer. I think that's why I haven't been reading as much. Because of this damn computer.

5. Drink less soda pop. Even diet pop. Though I love me some Diet Pepsi. Yum.

6. Love my fellow man. Shoot, I'm running out of ideas. Well, if I have more, I'll add more.

Colin Firth

I watched "Mamma Mia" today. It was kinda corny, but it's nice to see Meryl Streep ham it up. It also rekindled my fascination with Colin Firth.

Mr. Darcy I presume? Meow!!!!!!

Catcher In The Rye (again)

Hey! Does anybody read this darn thing? I sure as shit do.

Anyway, I'm reading "Catcher In The Rye" again and I'm loving it. I don't ever remember it being this good. The last time I read it, I was thirteen years old, and I don't think I really comprehended it. I did, but I didn't get the the way J.D. Salinger writes, but I have found that the way he writes is very modern, and could have been written last year. The book is that fresh! I love it, I love it, I love it!!!

blah blah blah

I am sick of my job! Boo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to look for another one, don't you think. Yes I think I do. I want a job where they can give me more than 18 hours a week, that's for damn sure.

Don't watch the DIY channel, it'll make you feel bad about yourself!

Why does life has to be so god-damned expensive? I am watching a show on DIY channel about redoing a kitchen, and the budget is $15,ooo! And the darn people are way over budget! And they put in granite counter tops for the hell of it! Must be nice.

And now I'm done bitching. Life is pretty good. My job is okay. I love my husband. I love my kitty cat. It's pretty nice.

We Will Vacation, You Can Be My Parasol

Okay, sorry I haven't posted a new blog in a while. The truth is I've been a little lazy about it.

Anyway, I am back at work, and ever since I got back from my vacation, I haven't got shit for hours, which really stinks, because now all of a sudden, I am getting bills like crazy! Where were these bills two months ago when I actually had plenty of money? I don't know, but it's very frustrating.

My vacation went very well. It was a blast and a half, but it went too fast! On our first day we traveled to Ludington, and went in the lighthouse, which was alright, but it was hot and crowded and full of complaining old ladies. On our second day, which was Labor Day, we just stayed in Irons, and floated around on Harper Lake, drinking (not a lot for me, though. I'm a lightweight!) Tuesday we went to Manistee, which was pretty nice. We went to a weir, and watched salmon swim upstream. Chris took some video of it, pretty neat. We spent Wednesday and Thursday in Traverse City. It was cold and rainy, but it was OK, we had a pretty good hotel room. The last couple of days we spent in Irons hanging around. Then, on Saturday we went home. Wahhhhhh!

I have also went off my diet and I gained back four pounds. Still haven't gone back on it either. I will. Someday.

The Slits, Gong, Kirsty MacColl

I am going on vacation in eight days. I cannot wait! This is a lame blog entry, so I will write about something else.

I have made a lot of music discoveries the last couple of days. The first is a punk band from the late '70s, The Slits. Well, they were originally a punk band, but their album Cut, is more like a reggae/dub kink of a thing. It's fuckin' awesome! It's a surprisingly catchy fun record, but the some of the topics are bad, like shoplifting, drug use and etc. etc. That doesn't stop me from listening to it. No sirree!

Next: Kirsty MacColl. A wonderful English singer/songwriter who is an awesome interpreter of other people's songs. Her covers of The Smiths and Billy Bragg are great! Also, what an amazing voice. Fantastic.

Now: Gong. What a weird band. Kind of like Pink Floyd but trippier. They have a song called Pothead Pixies, and another called Witches Song - I Am Your Pussy. Some crazy shiznit. I like it!

Anyhow, what a way to spend a rainy day! Listening to good music and cleaning the flat. Nice.

You're The Wish You Are I Had

Okay, I'm gonna start talking about Saturday, and my unusual day at work. I work in the produce department at Felpuausch, a grocery store known to people who live in southwest Michigan. I get back from my lunch break, and there is a little mound of brown something on the floor. I take a closer look, and what is it? A little mound of baby poo! Now, who let's their baby poop on the floor, and not say anything to anyone? Just let people slip and fall over some baby crap. They just let it sit there. Stupid ass people! And don't get me started on those little produce bags! People open them and leave them everywhere. They also like to stuff them behind the bananas, I don't know why. Another thing, why do people take grapes out of the bag they are originally in, leave the five they are going to buy in the original bag, and then leave a whole bunch of grapes just sitting out! You know what we have to do with that huge cluster of grapes? We gotta throw it away, that's what!

Now I have ranted about my job, I will tell you about my day. Chris (my husband) and I went on a little shopping spree. I went to Kohls and got a pair of new shoes ( half off) and a sun dress that was on clearance. Chris bought two pairs of shorts for our little vacation that's coming up in two weeks time. It's getting closer to vay-cay-shun time!!! It's so relaxing to be miles away from your home and your job. No responsibilities, just relaxation. I think I am going to make some compilation CD's for the four hour drive. Rockin'!

New blog, new start!

I started this blog today, hopefully to upstart my former love of writing. I haven't written anything in a long time, so here goes!

My husband Chris worked all day today, so I have been lazing around watching the telly and listening to my new Aimee Mann album. It's pretty good, but I'll have to listen to it a couple times more to get the feel of it. My hubby's sister, her husband and their three kids came up from Texas this week and they left today. I have fallen in love with those three kids, Madison, Grace and Emilie. On Tuesday we went to the Calhoun County Fair in Marshall for 5 and a 1/2 hours. It was fun but boy did I get a wicked sunburn on my chest. It hurts! Wednesday we went to Lake Michigan for a couple of hours and I made it worse. Good job, Leslie!

I also am supposed to be on vacation this week, but they made me work anyway. I'm such a sucker. Why do I let people walk all over me?I too nice, that's why. At least it's more money for our vacation in a couple of weeks. We are going up north. I can't wait!!!!
