House Hunting

Since I haven't been on here in a while, I think I'll write a little something something. Chris and I have been house hunting these past three weeks! We finally got out credit score perfect, so now we can officially start looking. I don't want our mortgage to be over $500 a month, because now we have added utilities! Living in this apartment has been a piece of cake because I only have had to pay rent and phone. Water, gas, and cable was taken care by our landlord (God bless him). BUT, it is going to be nice to get out of this box I call my apartment. We have found some reasonable choices, but we have also found some real shitboxes! We looked at a $25,000 house two days ago. From the outside it looked okay. It had a really cool living room with a fireplace and lots and lots of shelves. But when the realtor showed us, it was a hellhole. It had water damage, totally outdated kitchen (it looked like nothing has been done to it since the 70s, it had wallpaper counters. That's bad.) The former owners wrote all over the bedroom walls (how tacky!), there was a small fire in the basement, and the living room floor has no insulation underneath it! That's not even the whole story. Yeesh! There is a house on Orleans Ave. that we are looking at that I love! Part of the basement is finished, and it's pretty much move in ready. It just needs cleaning and the kitchen needs to be updated just a little. It has turquoise counter tops, ha ha ha!

Anyways other than that life is pretty great. I have no complaints! Well, packing all of our shit. That's another story!

By the way I just won a couple of pieces of vintage jewelry on eBay. A choker chain Avon necklace, and a lucite Japanese printed bracelet. And I only spent two dollars! OH YEAH!

Bummer

Do you have days when you feel nervous for no reason, and every little thing affects you? I am having one of those days. I feel sad for no reason today. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow.

blah blah blah!

Sorry that I haven't been blogging! Mostly sorry to Nikki. ;)

Anyways, I have been working a lot lately. I have been having a hard time keeping this darn apartment clean because I have been working so much. I am glad I have tomorrow off so I can do a little bit of housework. Or not. Maybe I'm not going to. Who cares?

I am watching a rerun of Saturday Night Live. Tracy Morgan is funny! Shoot man.

Leslie the Sourpuss

Forgive my previous rant. Though only a little bit. :-)

Went to the library today and got "My Sister, My Love" by Joyce Carol Oates, and "Mercy" by Geraldine Brooks. Also took out 3 CDs, "Youth Novels" by Lykke Li, "The Con" by Tegan and Sara, and "Challengers" by New Pornographers. My husband took out 3 DVDs. One was about plantations and it was very interesting how they built those old houses. I thought it was going to me boring, but it wasn't at all. Very interesting!

Went to the mall today but didn't spend any money! I was a good girl.

I Think I Hate Facebook

Okay. I am starting to get real mad with Facebook. All it does is make me jealous of all the other people that have a bunch of wall posts. It makes me mad that if you ask a person that you thought were your friend at one time to be friends, they decline your friend request. It makes me mad that people that I'm excited to be in contact again don't reply to their wall posts from me, but will for everybody else. It makes me feel like I'm in high school all over again. I feel like a nobody. Maybe that's a bit extreme, but I don't want to be friends with 300 people that I barely know and that will never talk to me at all. It makes me mad that I had to make friends with about 20 of my "so-called" friends. They couldn't bother to ask ME. I can't even get one of my cousins to accept my friend request. She turned me down TWICE. Fuck that, I'm sorry. I'm just getting this off my chest, so if anybody from Facebook reads this, you know how I feel. Also, I don't like it when people brag about their wonderful,fun-filled life and rubbing it in my face. Who cares? I don't. It just makes my ordinary average normal life seem pale in comparison. Whatever. I've stopped ranting now! I don't mean to offend certain people, but some I do. Anyway, on a happy note, have a great day or night or whatever.

Don't eat these cookies!

What a drag. Peanut butter gives you salmonella! I thought I'd never see the day.

Cabin Fever Is Nothing To Brag About

Heck I'm bored as mud, so I thought I would write a little something.

Well, I have been getting into some good music lately. Metric is a great Canadian band, kind of new wavey. I downloaded "Old Underground, Where Are You Now" the other day, and I am listening to it right now. "Wet Blanket" is my favorite on it, though all of their songs are pretty catchy! Also Metric's lead singer's side project is great as well, Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton's "Knives Don't Have Your Back" is a big favorite of mine right now.

Other than that I've got cabin fever right now. There's not a lot I can do when it's so cold and snowy out. I'd go shopping but we are very skint right now. Being poor sucks, there's no other way to put it!!!! My kitty's been sleeping all day, so I've been all by my lonesome. And our picture window started leaking again, I just caulked it, so it stopped, but I'm keeping an eye on it! It does it every few years, especially during deep freezes. Stupid window.

Another day off tomorrow, boo hoo, right?
